Anthony will lead this intensive workshop held over four days where you’ll learn professional photo techniques on the move as you wander through the beautiful streets.
Our workshops have a focus on dawn, but we will also use the changing light of the day and into the evening to create unique compositions of the city.
Dawn in Paris is a time of quiet, calm beauty, when the usually bustling streets are virtually silent and you have the city to yourself. You’ll wander through the alleyways, cross the big boulevards, pause on the bridges over the Seine and see the epic Parisian vistas as dawn breaks and the sun rises up over the city.
“In my workshops I teach how to photograph the dawn light – from the ‘blue hour’ when the sky turns from black, to deep blue and then starts to break open with sunlight. We will photograph the iconic views of each city as well as discovering hidden spots and interesting characters.” Anthony
Anthony has spent several months in Paris photographing the city in the dawn hours for his book Paris at Dawn. He has tirelessly searched the streets for new, interesting views, discovered fascinating unfamiliar sites and worked hard to find a vision of the city that captures its spirit but offers something new and fresh.
Watch Anthony talking about his Cities at Dawn photo projects on BBC World.
Improve your technical and creative skills in our comprehensive workshop.
The workshop will include sessions on:
- Creative exposures and how shooting on Manual gives you total control of your creative photography.
- The art of creative composition: learn the how and why of composition.
- We will study light and why you will never see a great photograph without great light. It is everything photography is about.
- The challenges of shooting in the changing light from dawn to dusk, and how to handle them.
- Street Photography – learn my approach in getting close and comfortable with your subjects. Or how to be candid, get that decisive moment – and let go of your fear of photographing strangers.
- A delicious complimentary welcome lunch at my favourite spot. I am a foodie too.
- Plus so many useful pro tips and practices from me…bring a notebook!
“I love teaching workshops and sharing my passion, skills and creativity. Photography has taught me so much about how to appreciate this amazing world that we live in – and I love to share it with people who have as much passion for photography as I do.” Anthony
Places on these workshops are limited to 6 so that Anthony can provide lots of 1-2-1 training and help you attain your best work.

Cat –
After Paris and Venice, London was my third workshop with Anthony. Extremely helpful to learn with him how to master your camera and the light. Anthony is not only an excellent professional who give good advice and tips, but also a great guy. To follow him around cities at dawn and shooting a lot of pictures is an unforgettable experience. Worth the trip !

Paris – Cities at Dawn Photography workshop
This was not meant to be a dawn workshop however due to the very hot weather in Paris that weekend it ended up with us meeting at dawn. This proved to be a wonderful experience seeing and photographing the city as it woke up!
Anthony is an excellent teacher and was very patient with us, giving one to one tuition during the workshop. It was very much a hands on experience where we walked in different areas and were encouraged to look at things differently. My main objective was move from automatic to manual photography and by the end of day 1 I was getting there. I now always shoot on manual which is a great success for me.
I would certainly recommend this workshop at whatever level you are as a photographer.
